FLOOD ASSISTANCE
– A state of emergency was declared in
17 counties today due to the heavy rains and flooding, including all three in
the Fourth – DeKalb, Rockdale and Gwinnett. More than 1,000 sandbags have been deployed in Rockdale and dozens
of roads closed in all three counties with the rain expected to continue
throughout the week. If you, your family or your business have been affected
by the flooding, FEMA can help with housing,
home repairs, small business loans, disaster unemployment assistance and

DRIVING
CONDITIONS – For a list of road closings in your neighborhood
use the Georgia Department of Transportation Navigator site or dial
511. The Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) is warning citizens to
stay out of standing or fast-moving waters. Most of the deaths have occurred
from people driving into water. For up-to-the-minute updates, follow GEMA on
Facebook or Twitter by going to their home
page.
EMERGENCY
SHELTER – If you or someone you know needs
immediate shelter or has questions, they are asked to call their local
emergency management agency. DeKalb
County residents can receive help by calling the DeKalb County Emergency
Management Agency at 770- 270-0413, Rockdale County residents can call the
Conyers-Rockdale County Emergency Management Agency at 770-918-6717 and
Gwinnett County residents can call the Gwinnett County Homeland Security
Emergency Management Agency at 770-513-5240. You can also receive help from
the American
Red Cross at 404-575-3730.
