Gala Benefits Olmsted Linear Park
2009 "Dream in Green" GALA Set for Sunday, February 22

Travel along Ponce de Leon Avenue in Atlanta and you'll experience the lovely, green linear park designed by Frederick Law Olmsted in the late1900s. This historic resource is supported by an annual gala, which raises funds for restoration and maintenance of this treasured green belt.  The fifth annual Party for the Parks on Ponce will be held Sunday, February 22, 2009, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Fernbank Natural History Museum.

The gala theme, "Dream in Green," captures the vision of a nearly complete, multi-year restoration of the historic park, spearheaded by the Olmsted Linear Park Alliance (OLPA).  The evening will feature a live and silent auction offering fabulous getaways to beach and mountain homes, a variety of fine artwork, rare wines, roundtrip airline tickets and much more.  Enter this green fantasy world of exciting auction items, delectable hors d'oeuvres and cocktails and an exciting IMAX movie...all presented with the opportunity to help continue restoration of these special Atlanta parks.

Restoration on five of the six Olmsted Park segments is complete.  Work on the final and largest segment, called Deepdene, is now underway.  OLPA needs the community's support to complete and preserve this historic greenspace.  The gala is a volunteer effort, chaired by Kevin Steward of Paris & Associates Realty.

Join the Dream in Green effort by reserving your ticket now.  Tickets are $100 each.  Please visit www.atlantaolmstedpark.org  to purchase tickets or send a check payable to the Olmsted Linear Park Alliance to OLPA, Box 5500, Atlanta, GA 31107.  You may also call OLPA 404-377-5361 or email olpa.atl@att.net  for more information.
